We had an opportunity to move to the Normandy region of France for a new job so we decided to go for it and started the search for a place to rent in June. We were able to find an 'ancienne' (ancient) house as they call it here. We're not sure how 'ancienne' our house is but it was definitely made for smaller people. But we figured when in the French countryside, live like the French. It is really a beautiful place!
Our front gate, see the little window to the right - that's our own little arrow slit to check for invaders who may be coming to visit.
Once you open the gate, this is what you see, our driveway leading to the garage and yard. Finally, a yard for Noah to run around in and play!

Here is Noah and I arriving for the 1st time. Kurt went with the movers to unpack our things. What a trooper he was especially since they were all German-speaking, beer drinking during break taking movers! They also had a rough time getting some of our American furniture into this 'ancienne' home. To the right you can see we have a built in grill to barbeque on when it is nice out.

Here is our 'Summer Kitchen' complete with a stovetop, deep fryer and our new outdoor heater.

The Neighborhood
We also picked this house for a couple of reasons. One was the location as we are only 5 minutes from my work. And we are a 5-10 minute bike ride from a lake with alot of great things for families.
Here is Noah having some fun at the lake one of the days that we rode our bikes over.
This is a picture of the 'beach' area of the lake that also has a snack stand.
They also have something called 'ski nautique' there which is where there are wires with ropes running around them where you can waterski or wakeboard without having a boat. This is something Kurt wants to try for sure next summer. They even have jumps and a chase boat that comes to get you if you fall.

We haven't been able to get out with the sail yet but it's in our short-term plan.
