Some Summer Fun

July and August, 2009

Just wanted to show a few examples of how we have spent our second summer in Switzerland.

While Amanda was still in town, we wanted to show her one of Switzerland's little castles. Unfortunately, it was closed. What we did get to see was pretty neat. It had an operating water mill.

Across the street from our home is the strandbad. Or bathing park. We just call it the beach. Although, there is more grass than sand.

Another nice weekend, we drove to a local mountain to go hiking. Mt. Rigi is known as the Queen of the Alps because it is the first mountain before reaching the Alps. We took a train up and hiked down.

It overlooks many lakes. Zug, the town where Rani works is located on this lake (just to the left of her head).

The hiking trails on Rigi meander their way down the mountain through many farms and cow pastures. We were quite surprised and a bit hesitant when we came across these two donkeys, blocking the road. Did you catch the Monty Python quote?

He seemed sorry to see us leave!

This seems to be a Swiss national hobby because we always see paragliding chutes in the air. We were lucky enough to see these guys getting ready to take off.
