After leaving Venice, Amanda and I headed back into the Alps to meet up with Rani and Noah, who came by train, in Zermatt, Switzerland. Zermatt is the closest town to the famous Matterhorn Mountain. Besides it's beautiful views, it is also interesting because there are also no cars allowed in town. Once again, we had to park at a massive parking garage down in the valley and take a train up to Zermatt. You don't normally think about it, but it is a unique experience not hearing automobile traffic during the day in a bustling little town.

Although you can ski or snowboard year round in Zermatt, we opted to take the train up the mountain for some hiking.
With a child under a year old, they recommended that we do not take Noah to the top. So, here we are at 7300 ft.

Saturday night was the Swiss equivalent of Fourth of July. We attended a parade and celebration.
